I was only able to get a few September Before the Pen photos. I was trying to see how I liked the B6 Slim Size, hence the artwork on around the edges. After the Pen post coming soon.

"After the Pen" in the journaling community means what does a plournal look like after it has been used for the week. Here are mine for June 2018. June Month & TrackersWeek 23I absolutely LOVED the oceans theme that I'll be sure to repeat it next June for Oceans Month. Besides getting to try so many cool doodles, I learned so much and was able to see wonders I never imagined. Week 24For the budding "artist / doodler", Pinterest is the best. place. ever. Week 25As you can see by weeks end of 25 and the majority of 26, my plournal was just kind of pretty to look at instead of functional. Sometimes that happens. Week 26SUBSCRIBE

I was unable to complete my doodle challenge for May but have high hopes for June. I don't have a designated list of art to draw, instead relying on what catches my fancy from my social media feeds, news stories, or perhaps even memories. I love the sea. I miss the sea. In searching for quotes for the month of June, I ran across one I think I will adopt. I see a developing trend of not finishing the challenges I set for myself. It could be because after so many days in the month, I can't really call them "doodles" and that is something I need to correct within myself... (It's just supposed to be a g*dd*m DOODLE!) It could be because I get a little busy towards the end of the month... we'll see. I doing SPACE next month. It should be just coloring, basically. (LOL) Anyhow, I loved the things I learned this month. June 19 - "This Japanese dragon symbolized the power of the ocean, had a large mouth, and was able to transform into a human shape. Ryūjin lived in Ryūgū-jō, his palace under the sea built out of red and white coral, from where he controlled the tides with magical tide jewels. Sea turtles, fish and jellyfish are often depicted as Ryūjin's servants." Information from Wikipedia
June 14 - “Ten years ago, out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, a ROV employed by the Shell Oil Company was quietly moving through the chilled, dark waters of Alaminos Canyon. It was nearly 8,000 feet below the ocean’s surface, creeping along, inspecting the underwater area around the Perdido oil platform (the deepest offshore drilling site in the world) when its operator came upon a creature that inhabits both the depths of the ocean and the subconscious mind. The strange being from below was a “long-arm squid,” a 26-foot-long nightmare with elbowed tentacles and pulsating fins that undulate in a way that says: My kind were here for eons before you, and will be here for eons after you.” - from Matthew Hart at the @Nerdist - my friend Scott showed me this one, too. . . .
June 11 - Guineafowl Pufferfish - unfinished - finished piece coming soon June 9 & 10 - Octlantis; scientists discovered a small octopus city where members of the gloomy octopus species congregate living in dens made of sand and shells. There was a similar site discovered in 2009 called Octopolis. Story by Science Alert here

Added 06-07-18: A Conversation With MomI was able to spend most of my day with my mom today, although most if it was spent with me working on my bujo while she was laying in her bedroom watching Game 5 between the Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Washington Capitals. As I was leaving, I asked"
What's the score? Mom: (quietly) 3rd quarter, 3-2, Knights winning Why are you whispering? Mom: I don’t want to jinx it, Ohma Them: I’m going to turn it on & yell at the screen & jinx it. DAMMIT BRIAN!! Added 06-01-18: Week 23
June 2018: Monthly - National Oceans MonthWhen I was a bambina, (around 8 or 9), our family went camping on Bibione Beach in Italy. I still have vivid snippets of memories of that week. Showers in the communal spaces under the shade of green, leafy trees. Barbecued dinners and laughing with the family and my mom and dads friends around a picnic table that gave someone a splinter every day of our stay. Running through the camp area playing hide and seek with Italian kids we couldn't even communicate with. Pedaling through town with my mom in a bicycle cart built for two for shopping and gelato. My little sister and I trying to control the pedal boat we were driving that was tossed to and fro by the gentle waves crashing onto the beach. The sun, the smells; Ahhhh, the memories...
My favorite memory was of the day that the sky was overcast, sprinkles rained down intermittently, the wind crashed the waves onto the shore, and the beach was empty, except for me. I reveled in that afternoon for hours, alone, walking the expanse of the desolate shore, wandering in and out of the water, I love the beach and the ocean because of that day. My doodle challenge for June is also Ocean-themed. Click here if you want to see them. Holidays for this month are a-plenty, as are the doodles.

In February, I attached some artists paper in the journal I was using with washi tape and completed the first doodle challenge I took on and it felt great. I would share it here, but it was a funny, definitely NSFW challenge. In March, I started a couple of doodle challenges on some watercolor paper and then promptly lost them... probably because I didn't washi them into my book as I should have. In April, I ignored any doodle challenges, opting for the #RockYourHandwriting challenge instead to improve my fast writing script. Days 1-4This month, I put the doodle challenge right onto the pages of my plournal. It's Beltane themed. I'll be updating by adding new photos on this post weekly.

I was going to just copy my BFFs April theme and colors but as I got going, it changed midstream. I did, however keep the rain theme.... although, I am not sure we will get as much rain as I might hope for here in the desert of Las Vegas. Tools: Sakura Pigma Microns Derwent Watercolor Pencils Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pens - Quote + Star Trek Insignia Pilot Precise V-5 in Purple Gifted Stickers from my BFF and some yellow washi on day 16 I am in love with all the holidays including all the quirky ones that exist. There are so many for April and while I have a lot, there are so many more. My favorites (with links) are listed below the slider. While elated that I have had many great days, I am regretting the choice of frogs for "great" in April. Doodles of frogs for the next 4 days commencing... March 2018 Mood Tracker Added: 04-06-18: Mood Tracker update, Week 15, and Front Page QuoteI was so excited to draw my first falling fish for April that I didn't wait for the water to dry before adding more lines and the black smeared a little. A fellow bullet journaler posted a picture of an "ugly" fish as she was looking for a way to track her daughters pet fish and the whole of the community showed an outpouring of love for him. His name is Bubble and he is a Black Moor. I promised I would draw him as the next fish in my Mood Day tracker. He turned out adorable. I wanted to try a new style of weekly. I went a little heavy on the pencil lines and considered drawing in a separator for the double list of boxes for each day but am otherwise eager to use it. I do think I should have staggered the opener lists to start to leave the bottom of the box for journaling... maybe, if I like this spread, I will do it for week 16. The picture below this one is week 13 (I'll add week 14 next week). While responding to a query about how to incorporate magic into the bullet journal, J. Starr from a bullet journaling group I am in, rephrased what I said in such a precise manner that I made it my front page quote. Added: 04-10-18: Week 14 and handwriting practiceLooking over my book last week made me realize that my handwriting was atrocious. I started the #RockYourHandwriting challenge for myself just to practice better petite note-taking handwriting. And while I don't do something special for every holiday I mark down that tickles me, I did draw a bird for Sunday's draw a bird day... I'm just not quite sure what kind of bird. Hahaha. Added: 04-14-18: Week 16I have definitely spent too much time on Pinterest pinning zentangles. I tried to recreate them all in just one spread. Nothing matches but there's a lot of gold, silver, and weird stuff. Yay for the weird stuff! Added: 04-26-18: Week 17And spring arose on the garden fair, Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere... I've created two of these pages now and I was so very happy with the first one, but this one.. I am completely enamored with. I first saw this from one one the heavyweights in the BuJo / Bullet Journal / Planner community: Llama Loves Lettering. Hers was all in text, albeit fancy, and I thought I would start it that way but the doodle aspect just came so readily. I look forward to these and hope you do, too. Here's the one I did for January 2018 Subscribe by email
